What is NJ ENERGY STAR Homes?

Built with energy-efficient systems and measures, a New Jersey ENERGY STAR Home is certified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to be at least 15%-35% more energy efficient than a standard home. That means you'll enjoy greater year-round comfort, quality, and savings on your energy bills for years to come. Best of all, any builder is eligible to participate in the program.

The New Jersey ENERGY STAR Homes program is part of the larger EPA ENERGY STAR program developed to promote energy efficient construction.

New Jersey ENERGY STAR Homes, with its commitment to providing customers with dependable, affordable power while lessening the impact of electric generation on the environment, has partnered with the EPA and area builders to bring ENERGY STAR Homes to New Jersey residents.

A new tier called New Jersey ENERGYEfficient Homes that do not meet ENERGY STAR standards, but still have energy efficient characteristics.

What is a New Jersey ENERGY STAR Home?

  •  Energy Efficient Performance
    • 15% more energy efficient than IECC 2006
    • scores 85 or less on the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index 
  • Verified by third-party program-qualified rating company
  • Credible: government backed label
